We also found there is a wide range of pricing. Stewart was one of two which came out to do an onsite estimate. His estimate was very reasonable and covered everything we wanted to have done, plus! In talking to Stewart, you get the feeling he really delights in taking a weathered home and making it new again.
We like the fact that TLCR stripped off the old finish without media blasting our logs. The crew was excellent. They worked tirelessly and were eager to do the job right. We never felt like they were trying to take shortcuts. Our project was hampered by wet weather, and the crew had to return home twice. TLCR always kept us updated on when work would resume. It is clear that they wanted to finish the job.
Now that the work has been completed, we have peace of mind that our house is wellprotected against the elements. In addition, our house feels significantly warmer than it did before. "I knew I was probably going to be very happy with TLCR's work on our WNC log cabin when other local workmen (who are also close family friends and relatives) started commenting spontaneously that "your house looks GREAT!" when I was on the phone with them. When I finally arrived there in person last week, I was prepared to see something I would like -- but I wasn't really prepared for what I found. I spent my first thirty minutes at the cabin just walking around looking at things from every angle. Even though "prepared", I was still amazed at the transformation Stu, Marco and his crew performed. After five days at the cabin I still haven't found anything I am disappointed with. Great job.
We also want to thank Marco and the crew for their extra effort in doing little things like staining the porch swing and deck benches to match. That was a nice surprise. But from the reports of my resident caretakers on the farm and from what I saw on our surveillance camera footage myself, Marco and his crew never slow down. Even when they had to wait for a new water supply to finish the pressure washing, they found other things to do. They also left the cabin in good shape after staying there. Couldn't have asked them for more -- and please pass on our thanks to them.

I LOVE the way the house looks ... it has lightened up, as you predicted, but not too much. I am really loving the Cranberry doors and the overall contrast with the darker stain and white chinking !!
My log home is 12 years old and had not been cleaned or stained in over 9 years, In addition to that I have a wrap around porch that has never been cleaned, stained or treated. When the restoration was completed, my log home looked brand new again and I am extremely pleased !!
Stu and his team did an excellent job and were all very pleasant and easy to work with. Stu offered several great suggestions on how to really improve the overall appearance and maintainability of my home. Stu and the crew all worked very hard and when the project was done, they did a great clean up job , including washing the windows and light fixtures !!

Dear Mr. Thibodeau,
As you know, the restoration on my "NEW" log home was recently completed by your company. I cannot begin to convey to you my appreciation, not only on the superior work your company performed, but also the genuine care and concern of you and your crew. Because of TLCR, and 84 tubes of caulking, we no longer have multitudes of insects to clean up every day. No longer do we have to clean up rainwater from leaking windows. The multiple decks, stairs and rails "bead-up" with rain water, as never seen before. The complete exterior of the house, decking and even the shed are absolutely beautiful. The interior of the home is also now beautiful, thanks to TLCR. Doors, windows, and walls can now be dusted without the duster sticking to them. The "milky" look is gone from the beams. You should tell your future customers that you not only restored the wood on my "brand new" home, thereby saving me unimaginable cost in the future, but you also replaced wood, corrected construction defects and brought to my attention things that I would have never known, had you not cared as much as you obviously do for your customers. My wife and I own a 30 year old log home with both full cedar logs and cedar siding that needed to be washed, sanded, treated, caulked, and re-stained. We were provided an in-depth overview of what needed to be done by Stu and his crew. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. His crew was on time, worked hard and did exactly what Stu said they would. His crew was friendly, protected the area and property around the home, and cleaned up every evening.
We are very happy with the results. Between the stain on the logs and the paint highlighting our doors and windows, our home looks great. We are also looking forward to a more comfortable indoor climate and a cheaper energy bill due to the caulking job to better insulate the exterior walls. There were a few logs and boards that needed replacing, and a carpenter bee problem that was getting the best of us. Stu and his crew addressed those issues as well, and also cleaned the gutters and added gutter guards. Driving up to my home every day is a real pleasure now, and knowing that the logs have been taken care of properly and are in great shape for the next several years puts my mind at ease.
I would recommend Stu and his crew chief, Marco, for anyone with a log home in need of repair, a face lift, or both. Thanks again Stu.

Stew and his crew stripped the failing finish on our 6 yr. old, 3500 sq. ft. log home and used Perma Chink products to stain and protect the revived logs. Stew and his crew spend approximately 19 days working on our log home. The guys were not slackers. When there was daylight they were always working and working HARD. I don't know how they managed to work such long hours and so hard. During the refinishing Stew and his crew stayed with us. The guys were always polite, courteous and respectful. They were good house guests.
We are pleased with the results of the refinishing. We anticipate that our home will be much easier to maintain going forward. To sum up: We are pleased with the work Total Log Cabin Restoration has done for us and we recommend them to help you with your log home.

I have just had my log cabin re-stained by Total Deck Care. My cabin is 11 years old and I had never had it cleaned and re-stained. So it was in pretty bad shape. I am writing this letter to inform you about the wonderful workmanship Stewart Thibodeau and Total Deck Care performed on my log home. Stewart's crew restored my log home back to almost new. My log home was in poor condition and had a blackish color that had adhered to the logs. Stewart and his crew stripped everything off and removed all the old stain, mold, and dirt that had adhered. His crew did an exceptional job re-caulking all the areas that were in need and even caulked in between the logs, where we once seen light slip through from the outside.
I was very pleased with the knowledge Stewart had in wood restoration and all the information he had given me on the various products he uses. He convinced me that the best product on the market was Permachink. Even though it was more expensive, he stated that in the long run, there would be a more lasting and beautiful outcome in the log home. I was also impressed with the courtesy and skills that reflected on all his crew and the time they spent going through all those extra details that are sometimes missed on a job. Stewart and his crew even cleaned and washed all my exterior windows. I would highly recommend using Permachink products and having a company as knowledgeable as Total Deck Care perform any job that involves wood restoration.
