The Total Log Cabin Restoration team is starting the new year in Pittsboro, NC, Chatham County. Today the team is here to restore a log home owned by Rachel I.
Marco is the crew leader for this job, and he doesn’t waist any time starting the preparation process. As with all the restoration jobs, the decks are cleared, and all furniture is removed, The gutter downspouts are also removed to protect them from stain as well as an easy access to the corner. of the home.
All the exterior lighting will also be covered and taped to protect and prevent electrical shortage.
On day one, the crew coats the logs with a stripping agent. The stripper is allowed to work its magic for about 20 minutes before being washed off with the pressure washer. A neutralizer is then applied to de-activate the stripper agent.
On the following day, after a night of drying time, the crew will sand down the logs to smooth the surface. This will give the logs a uniform look, as well as, prepare the surface for the new stain.
On day three, the team will inspect the old caulking, and will determine where the caulking needs to be replaced. The doors, windows are also inspected, and re-caulked as needed.
Finally, the cabin gets its first coat of TWP California Red and will get its second coat, on the following day.
